SALLY HANSEN GWP

Playing around at Chemist Warehouse yesterday (it’s a little dangerous having one so close on lunch breaks!) I came across this cute gift with purchases from Sally Hansen for spending over $20. After giving my nails a much deserved rest from Shellac lately I have been on the look out for a polish that comes at least close in terms of lasting power and shine so these Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Polishes (at $14.39 each) seemed promising (stay tuned for a blog review coming soon)!  ...

NOTD > BOE BEAUTY IN PRETTY BABY

After being sent this beautiful summer shade in my recent Lust Have It FaB Box (review soon!), I decided to try it out. I’ve used a couple of products from the Boe Beauty range and wanted to see how the polish measured up. Boe Beauty is a range sold in Kmart stores and has quite a wide range of products on offer – I was quite impressed with how lovely and moisturising their lip crayons were even if they lacked the pigmentation of other more expensive brands. The verdict? While I  ...

Nail of the Day – Sinful Colors Thimbleberry

Sinful Colors is a cheap and cheerful (but still good quality) nail polish brand that I have been trying out over the last few months. Their in-store displays are so bright and colourful I’ve found it almost impossible to resist trying out a new shade when I wander past – oops! Thimbleberry is a vibrant orange-red that is even brighter in person (sometimes photos just don’t seem to do nail polish shades justice)! It’s perfect for lazy summer days and goes on really  ...

Nail of the Day – OPI Sweetheart

During the Christmas holidays I was rocking a beautiful fire engine red shellac on my nails and while I absolutely loved it, I do have a bit of a bad habit of picking it off once it starts flaking – a huge no-no! I totally know I shouldn’t do it but I seem to find myself picking away until mo poor little nails are torn up and brittle underneath (eek!). I decided on painting them a neutral polish shade to try and cover up some of the damage until they have had a bit of a chance  ...

Nail of the Day – Revlon Bubbly

A few years ago I was utterly obsessed with this pretty pink polish. I had it on my nails for almost a year constantly and the bond was only broken when I managed to lose my precious bottle – devastation! I’m not really sure why I didn’t run out and repurchase it there and then but time meant it was forgotten until I saw it once again on sale for half price and simply couldn’t pass it up! It’s such a pretty mid-tone pink and it has such a lovely creamy finish.  ...

Nail of the Day – Marvela Elle

I caught up with some of my lovely friends for dinner this last weekend and the gorgeous Lindsay gave me a cute little gift of two nail colours from Marvela! Knowing what a beauty addict I am she knew I’m always excited to trial a new nail colour! This was a moody grey called Elle (I’m having a bit of a love affair with grey polish this Winter). Two coats gave me perfect coverage and I was super impressed with the fast drying time of this as well – by the time I had  ...

Nail of the Day – Essie Haute as Hello

For the past few weeks I’ve been fighting off a virus so have spent way more time on the couch sick than I have in years – so frustrating! A few weeks ago I had a few days off with a throat infection (they thought it was tonsillitis), and at the start of last week it flared up again so it was back to the doctor once more!  As I was feeling rather glum I spent some time watching beauty videos on YouTube and since it’s summer in the US, so many beauty gurus had  ...

Nail of the Day – Maybelline Colour Show in Impeccable Greys

I finally got around to trying out this wonderful winter shade last week. The weather had been grey and gloomy and I had been sick in bed with tonsillitis so it seemed fitting that my nails would reflect my moody state! This is a gorgeous deep grey with a bit of a purple tone and it went opaque with just two coats. My only qualm with dark polishes is that I feel as soon as they start to show the slightest amunt of chipping they need to come off, whereas a lighter colour means you can  ...

Nail of the Day – Revlon Spanish Moss

When a friend at work picked this up and brought it in I had to try it out of course! What a lovely khaki and a great option for a darker winter shade. Two coats gave my nails a really good opaque coverage but I was a bit disappointed by the lack of staying power it seemed to have (at least without a top coat to protect it). Within about 12 hours my nails already looked chipped and it took about two days for it to look terrible and need replacing.  Have you tried any shades from this  ...
